The Short Version

• No accounts required - Use Crest without signing up for anything
• No data collection - We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal data
• No analytics - We don't track how you use the app
• No ads - We don't show advertisements or sell data
• Everything stays on your device - Your surf sessions, journal entries, and progress are stored locally

Data Storage

All data in Crest is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure storage systems. This includes:

• Your surf sessions and history
• Personal notes and reflections
• Statistics and progress tracking
• App preferences and settings

This data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including Face ID, Touch ID, and your device passcode.

Surf Crew Feature (Optional)

If you choose to use the Surf Crew feature to connect with friends:

• Only aggregated, anonymous statistics are shared (total crew surfs, active members count)
• Your individual surf times, journal entries, and personal details are never shared
• Data syncs through Apple's iCloud, which is encrypted and controlled by your Apple ID
• You can leave a crew at any time, and your contributions are anonymized

Third-Party Services

Crest does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external service used is Apple's iCloud for the optional Crew feature, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored on your device:

• Delete the app to remove all local data
• Use iOS Settings to clear app data without uninstalling
• Leave a Surf Crew to disconnect from shared statistics

Children's Privacy

Crest does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app requires no account creation and stores no data externally.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change our privacy practices, we will update this page. Given our commitment to privacy-first design, any changes would only further protect your data, never reduce protections.
